Learn how to Flatter Yourself

So how do you find the right look for your body type? I'm about to tell you some easy steps to follow when deciding on buying a garment, and I will show you how easy it is to Flatter Your Body type...Here we go!

First start with placing your arms by your sides with the palms of your hands facing forward. Then raise your arms but keep your elbows pressed in at the sides. Look or feel where your waist falls in regards to your elbows. If your waist falls at your elbow you are a balanced body type, but if your waist falls below your elbow you are a long waisted body type or in other terms a short legged body type. If elbows fall above your waist then you are a long legged body type/short torso.

Congratulations you just figured out your VERTICAL BODY TYPE, now lets figure out your Horizontal Body type.

There is many Horizontal Body types, you could be an hourglass type which means your waist is about 10 inches smaller in comparison to your bust dimensions and hip dimensions... Call your husband, boyfriend or best friend and ask them to take the measurements of your bust line, waist line and then hip line... (note: just because you wear a size 24 in Jeans DOES NOT mean that you have a 24 inch waist, so make sure you measure yourself)

Now, when you have all your measurements... see what horizontal body type you are: Triangle Body type is when your bust measurements are smaller than your hip and waist measurements, if you are an inverted triangle that means your bust measurements are larger than hip and waist measurements. Diamond body type means that your mid body is larger than upper or lower body, causing a diamond shape appearance. If you are an oval body type that means you are a full bodied woman. Rectangle body type means that you have no waist line definition, in other words all your measurements were around the same numbers.

OK so now you are almost ready to make the PERFECT shopping decision for your body type, so lets start!

If you are a long legged woman: choose tops that will make your torso look longer.. so longer over blouses would work for you.. As well as long jackets ! Wear eyes Down accessories, and wear skirts and pants that have NO waistbands.

If you are a short legged woman: choose short to medium long tops blouses and jackets. Eyes up accessories... Medium to wide belts and wear heels that match your skin color, so your legs can appear longer. Choose straight skirts rather than flared styles!

If you are a balanced body type: No contrasting colors at the waistline, choose medium to medium long over blouses tops and jackets. Eyes up accessories, and dresses that flow through the waist!

OK so now that you know how to dress your vertical body type well, lets learn how to compliment your Horizontal body type!!!

If you are an hourglass well congratulations, everything looks amazing on you, but becareful most hourglass figured woman when they gain weight tend to turn into rectangle body types, so don't stop that cardio at the gym ladies!!!

Inverted triangle is the 2nd most desirable shape, choose A line skirts, horizontal stripes and fuller legs or even boot cut in pants or any bottom. Minimize the upper body by wearing open necklines and collars, also use vertical stripes on top, and single breasted jackets... Make sure you choose garments that have smooth fabrics when dressing your top part of the body. Try to create weight on the bottom by adding belts that fall at your hips or even textured fabric and bold figures or colors.
For all my triangle figured women, which by the way is the most common horizontal body type.. Choose bold colors, textures and figures when picking out a top, so you create a more balanced shape. Also choose darker colors in skirts and pants. Always try to choose smooth fabrics below the waistline and remember to wear high placed accessories.

If you are a diamond body type: slimming strategies would include neckline accessories, medium size prints, and darker colors. Do not wear dresses with waistlines. Do wear open vests and high placed focal points!

Oval body types use below knee length skirts, no shiny prints instead do medium to dark colors!

AND this is a tip for anyone who wants to appear taller, WEAR nude colors when choosing your heels, it creates the illusion of longer legs that never end!

So go ahead now and start shopping! I hope my information was helpful ..best of luck & have a GLITZIN SHOPPING EXPERIENCE!!!

STUCK when it comes to where to shop???

If you are looking for some great and unique styles, or if you have been searching for new outfits to make out something different with what you own, well I think you will love www.polyvore.com . At Polyvore you can create your own looks with their clothes and accessories that they are selling, or you can look at others "style creations" and take their advice on how to match and put some outfits together. The website is interactive and it can be a lot of fun, sometimes I find myself on Polyvore for hours!!! I'm addicted, I hope you will be too....
Also for great "looks" and diversity of accessories, handbags and apparel check out www.shopstyle.com , they have many brands, a broad price market, and they will redirect you to the advertiser's site so you can purchase your item easy and fast. I love to check out shopstyle because I don't have to go and browse all malls and stores, you can just find what you like here and then visit the actual store were they sell your item of choice (for those who like to try on the clothes or see the merchandise before purchasing it).... No more walking malls, just find it and see if its available at your near location on these websites.... Hope you like them as much as I do... ENJOY!
