CHLOE'S fashion show!

What can I say? Amazing! Spectacular! Just Perfect! The fashion show was held last night November 5th at the Moore Building in the Design District (Miami). The show started around 10pm after an amazing performance from all the acrobats. Chloe's spring2010 collection was a hit with the crowd and it was the first time being shown in Florida, the line was straight from Paris. A mix of beautiful oranges, whites, blues and khakis were the color story of the line. If you would like to see pictures of the new collection right off the runway and of the fashion show please log on to http://www.humberphotography.blogspot.com/ . This night couldn't of had the success it had without the help from the students at the Art Institute, and of course the Huge backing from the MIR MIA committee. All the models were styled by Primp salon in Miami, and Chloe's own Lazaro Arias directed the show. I was lucky enough to meet Lazaro and Jose(new director for Chloe) 3 months ago, and since then we have been working together on this production. We couldn't of asked for a better show, everything was up to par. Great clothes, great fashion, great show, great venue and great help from our sponsors! Thank you so much to everyone for a beautiful show! It was defintitely the HIGHLIGHT of the night, have a Glitzin weekend everyone!!!

New Trend Spotting

Looking for the New Trends for the Winter??, Well here you Go... try to invest in a tweed skirt, seems like they will be a "must" item this Winter season! Tweed can be done right with a soft fabric top, blouse or tank! Remember to keep solid colors on top when wearing a tweed skirt, you want your skirt to be a focal point when you are wearing it. Accessorize it by wearing black stockings underneath and keep the black going with some black heels, so that you can elongate your legs. Tweed can look very classy and it can be very versatile; you can wear it to a nice dinner, to work, or even to a night out on the town. Remember to choose colors that compliment your tweed skirt when choosing accessories. Also another Hot Item for winter will be GREY shoes... that's right !! grey swede shoes to be precise! Go to zappos.com or shopbob.com to see some styles that might be to your liking when choosing a grey suede pump!! And why not wear them with your new Tweed skirt???? Have Glitzin Weekend everyone!

Learn how to Flatter Yourself

So how do you find the right look for your body type? I'm about to tell you some easy steps to follow when deciding on buying a garment, and I will show you how easy it is to Flatter Your Body type...Here we go!

First start with placing your arms by your sides with the palms of your hands facing forward. Then raise your arms but keep your elbows pressed in at the sides. Look or feel where your waist falls in regards to your elbows. If your waist falls at your elbow you are a balanced body type, but if your waist falls below your elbow you are a long waisted body type or in other terms a short legged body type. If elbows fall above your waist then you are a long legged body type/short torso.

Congratulations you just figured out your VERTICAL BODY TYPE, now lets figure out your Horizontal Body type.

There is many Horizontal Body types, you could be an hourglass type which means your waist is about 10 inches smaller in comparison to your bust dimensions and hip dimensions... Call your husband, boyfriend or best friend and ask them to take the measurements of your bust line, waist line and then hip line... (note: just because you wear a size 24 in Jeans DOES NOT mean that you have a 24 inch waist, so make sure you measure yourself)

Now, when you have all your measurements... see what horizontal body type you are: Triangle Body type is when your bust measurements are smaller than your hip and waist measurements, if you are an inverted triangle that means your bust measurements are larger than hip and waist measurements. Diamond body type means that your mid body is larger than upper or lower body, causing a diamond shape appearance. If you are an oval body type that means you are a full bodied woman. Rectangle body type means that you have no waist line definition, in other words all your measurements were around the same numbers.

OK so now you are almost ready to make the PERFECT shopping decision for your body type, so lets start!

If you are a long legged woman: choose tops that will make your torso look longer.. so longer over blouses would work for you.. As well as long jackets ! Wear eyes Down accessories, and wear skirts and pants that have NO waistbands.

If you are a short legged woman: choose short to medium long tops blouses and jackets. Eyes up accessories... Medium to wide belts and wear heels that match your skin color, so your legs can appear longer. Choose straight skirts rather than flared styles!

If you are a balanced body type: No contrasting colors at the waistline, choose medium to medium long over blouses tops and jackets. Eyes up accessories, and dresses that flow through the waist!

OK so now that you know how to dress your vertical body type well, lets learn how to compliment your Horizontal body type!!!

If you are an hourglass well congratulations, everything looks amazing on you, but becareful most hourglass figured woman when they gain weight tend to turn into rectangle body types, so don't stop that cardio at the gym ladies!!!

Inverted triangle is the 2nd most desirable shape, choose A line skirts, horizontal stripes and fuller legs or even boot cut in pants or any bottom. Minimize the upper body by wearing open necklines and collars, also use vertical stripes on top, and single breasted jackets... Make sure you choose garments that have smooth fabrics when dressing your top part of the body. Try to create weight on the bottom by adding belts that fall at your hips or even textured fabric and bold figures or colors.
For all my triangle figured women, which by the way is the most common horizontal body type.. Choose bold colors, textures and figures when picking out a top, so you create a more balanced shape. Also choose darker colors in skirts and pants. Always try to choose smooth fabrics below the waistline and remember to wear high placed accessories.

If you are a diamond body type: slimming strategies would include neckline accessories, medium size prints, and darker colors. Do not wear dresses with waistlines. Do wear open vests and high placed focal points!

Oval body types use below knee length skirts, no shiny prints instead do medium to dark colors!

AND this is a tip for anyone who wants to appear taller, WEAR nude colors when choosing your heels, it creates the illusion of longer legs that never end!

So go ahead now and start shopping! I hope my information was helpful ..best of luck & have a GLITZIN SHOPPING EXPERIENCE!!!

Looking for a great Vintage store?

I can say I'm a HUGE fan of bargains and beautiful vintage pieces! If a garment can tell a story, then I feel very proud to wear it! I've been lucky enough to be gifted some beautiful and extraordinary vintage pieces from my boyfriend's mother... But I also do some shopping of my own.. If you are like me and love to share with the world the story and the ERAS your vintage clothes represent, well you should continue reading....
I get asked all the time about my lucky spots for vintage shopping, and I'm about to share a couple with you guys...
If you are looking for an online place to browse a GREAT place to visit is www.poshgirlvintage.com, you will be surprised at the great prices and styles that this website provides. You can check out all the new clothing listed for that week, or you can check out clothing by the time frame you are interested in, (I'm personally a HUGE 50's fan!!!) Anything from wedding dresses, to the little black dress you can find at this location, and I want to add that they were voted best Vintage site on Seventeen Magazine, so go ahead and check it out....

And if you are looking for something Local well, there are great places like Jezebel Vintage Clothing... located at: 1980 E Sunrise Blvd Fort Lauderdale. If you are looking for some great and unique styles, or if you have been searching for new outfits to make out something different with what you own, well I think you will love www.polyvore.com . At Polyvore you can create your own looks with their clothes and accessories that they are selling, or you can look at others "style creations" and take their advice on how to match and put some outfits together. The website is interactive and it can be a lot of fun, sometimes I find myself on Polyvore for hours!!! I'm addicted, I hope you will be too....

David Beckham has some hot BOOTS!

This is for all my ladies who are looking for a new boot for their man, or a loved one...

David Beckham has made a huge impact in the fashion world as you all know, well the boots he wears have been the talk of the town for a while now... And the secret is out... David Beckham's soooo famous boots that he is photographed in almost always, are Sendra boots... Sendra is a boot designer from Spain. This boot is a hot item and difficult to find, but I found a store who sells them for a good price and delivers them quick... Alcala's Western Wear, visit their website at http://www.alcalas.com/ enter their men's boot section and then select riding boots, you will see them on that page... SENDRA (there are different colors and styles you can pick from.. also check out FRYE boots, they are pretty hot too.... (there was rumors that David Beckham's boots were from the Frye designer but the picture above proved that they were Sendras)
They run true to their size, so make sure you don't get a little bigger size because you might think they will be small on your man !!
What's even hotter about David Beckham, last week it was reported that David got asked to pose on some sexy ads with Angelina Jolie, and he said no because he was married.... Now ladies that's a good man !!

What a new Boutique??

Obviously I cant help it, but anytime I hear about any new stores, shops or boutiques opening up I have to make it in there. My girlfriend mentioned to me something about this boutique opening in Ft Lauderdale, so i went yesterday and checked it out.... And i can say that the owner has some great taste, when you first walk in you feel like you have entered a designer's store, why? you may ask... well, the cashier desk is not your typical retailer's layout, its a desk that is situated in the middle of the room (like a designers) so that its easier to interact with your clients. Brilliant idea, the garment pieces he has in his store are very well picked out, and his accessories I must say are of great taste and up on the trends. If you are by the beach anytime soon...well go in, and check it out for yourselves: Mimosa Boutique 3332 NE 33rd street, Ft Lauderdale... and what did i get when i went there?? I got a fabulous ring , and i love it!!! I definitely will be back there for more accessories :)

Hello World!!!

So I started looking for the right blogging site to use and I finally found something I like. I'm currently working on my bachelor of Science for Fashion Merchandising, and couldn't be more excited to be graduating next year. So I decided to share with the world some of my experiences, activities, side work, trends spotting, and research that I'm presently working on. I want to be able to provide a blog that helps YOU find some HOT picks around our local area, and also some cool stuff I think would be worth while to look at online. Moreover, I want to be your eyes to the Florida fashion community. I will be posting pics, I will be sharing some hot spots and boutiques to check out and I will be sharing with you some of my activities and classes that I will be in from now on . But the key is if you want to be in touch with the FASHION WORLD as I experience it, then stay tuned and check back everyday as I will post something new each time I can!!!!
